Lsx 427 Supercharged Crate Engine
The Supercharged 427CI 1000HP LSX Crate Engine represents one of the most potent and turnkey performance solutions available for muscle cars, restomods, and high-performance builds. Whether you’re chasing big horsepower, street reliability, or track dominance, this crate engine option checks every box. Below, we break down the specs, features, benefits, and tips for choosing and using an LSX 427 supercharged engine.
“LSX” refers to the high-strength, performance-oriented variant of GM’s LS family, often featuring an 8-bolt main block and robust construction. The “427” indicates 427 cubic inches of displacement (roughly 7.0 liters). When paired with a supercharger, the LSX 427 becomes a high-output powerplant suited for serious performance applications.
Supercharged 427CI 1000HP LSX Crate Engine || LSX Engine
LSX 427 Supercharged Crate Engine is a high-performance, ready-to-install powerhouse that marries massive displacement with forced induction. Builders and performance enthusiasts appreciate its plug-and-play approach, wide torque curve, and room for future upgrades. By paying attention to fitment, cooling, tuning, and drivetrain compatibility, you can unlock levels of speed and responsiveness few other crate engines can match.
This crate engine is a ready-to-install, supercharged 427 cubic-inch (≈ 7.0 L) version of a high-performance LS/LSX platform built to produce approximately 1000 hp LSX 427.

Hood clearance, front accessories, and engine bay layout might be impacted by the supercharger-manifold height and blower belt drive, which in turn affects fitment and accessory clearance. The additional height and belt/pulley room should fit easily into your vehicle’s hood and firewall.
For safe performance, a high-output engine needs a fuel system that is well-matched (injectors, pump, rails), an ECU that has been calibrated, and suggested fuel (many stipulate 91+ octane).
The reliability of a vehicle with high horsepower and forced induction depends on its cooling system, which includes the radiator, airflow, and, if appropriate, intercooling.
The transmission, driveshaft, rear differential, axles, clutch/torque converter, and other supporting systems are put through their paces by 1,000 horsepower. These could need an upgrade.
In addition to the engine costing almost $40,000, you will need to allocate funds for installation, fueling, tuning, electronics, and any additional enhancements that may be necessary.
The usage and warranty of these high-output crate engines are uncertain; one specification sheet even reads, “No warranty!”
Start-up, break-in, and maintenance (oil changes, monitoring) are still critical to the engine’s longevity, regardless of whether it is a crate engine or not.
